Adults
A place for grown-ups
Once you're an adult, with a career, a family, and grown-up responsibilities, making friends isn't as easy as it was when you were, say, twelve. The JCC gives adults a chance to come together with like-minded individuals in classes that stretch their minds, seminars that sharpen their skills, workshops that develop new talents or group getaways that allow them to travel the world.
GesherCity Hartford is aimed specifically at young adults, ages 21 to 35. Through personal networks called "Clusters," it allows both "new kids in town" and those who have lived in Connecticut their entire lives to access information about and connect with resources in the community. Baby Boomers, ages 45 to 65 have the opportunity to explore the world in high style with JCC-sponsored day trips and luxurious spa getaways, or enjoy the fellowship of havurot. Seniors can choose from excursions to the theatre and museums, stimulating social programs and discussions, and support groups. And for those more mature individuals who want to travel into cyberspace, internet classes are offered through SeniorNet in our state-of-the-art computer learning center.
Adults with developmental disabilities can enjoy social and recreational programs designed to allow them to interact with their peers, and improve their social skill--all while developing meaningful relationships.
