CALL TO ACTION!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and being thankful for all that we have, there is no better time to teach our children about food insecurity by helping those less fortunate.

The Jewish values ‘Tzedakah’ (charity and giving to those in need) and ‘Tikkun Olam’ (repairing the world) do just that.

The Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry at the Jewish Family Services distributes over 90,000 pounds of food, toiletries and cleaning supplies each year to residents within the Greater Hartford area during temporary or long-term times of need.

Your kosher nonperishable donations are incredibly helpful. You are making a difference! No contact drop-off – COVID protocols will be in place.

MITZVAH PROJECT

Earlier this week, our little friends in the ECC had the privilege of dropping off 98 “smile” bags filled with wonderful donations to lift the spirits of the many children at Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC).

We can’t thank our incredible ECC community enough for their generosity … and kindness.

This was a Mitzvah project that was truly a school-wide effort ... from start to finish. The children collected Tzedakah (the charity), they sorted and filled the bags, and our littlest friends made beautiful cards which were added to the bags.
World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. This day, celebrated on November 13 of each year, has the purpose to help everyone understand that compassion for others is what binds us all together.
Humanity strives to treat strangers with kindness and to love them as ourselves.

COMING IN DECEMBER

The JCC's commitment that no one should be denied a JCC experience due to inability to pay the full price could be more important than it is today. Financial aid, based on need, is available for summer camps, sports jams, preschool, and membership. Asking for help can be difficult and uncomfortable -- and for many, this may be the first time such a request is being made. Everything is kept confidential.
