Community & Social Services

Central to the Mandell JCC's mission is service to our community

In fact, while our agency is best known for our outstanding fitness center and preschool, these are intended as pieces in a complex quilt of social services, facilities, events, classes and programs to serve families and draw together our community.

We invite you to explore this "softer side" of the Mandell JCC's mission, that which is related to community and social services.

Permanent Food Drive:  Operation Yes We Can!

The Mandell JCC plays a leadership role in easing hunger in our community by providing a permanent and pro-active community food collection center for kosher and non-kosher donations to be distributed to the food pantries of FoodShare and Jewish Family Services. Jewish Employment Transitions Services:  JETS

JETS Jewish Employment Transition Services is a new employment outreach and support program to provide services to those individuals in the Greater Hartford area unemployed as a result of the current economy. While this program is sponsored by the Jewish community, it is open for anyone, regardless of faith, who has a need and/or skills they wish to volunteer.  JETS was conceived and is managed by a group of volunteers, clergy and the staffs of Jewish Family Services and The Mandell JCC.  Emphasis will be on: facilitation of job search skills and networking opportunities, preserving sound emotional and financial health, and providing awareness of community resources.
