There is a critical need for food for the West Hartford food pantry.
Friday, April 3 | 9:00 am to 4:00 pm | JCC Main Entrance
While most of us are home during this unprecedented time, many of us are privileged to have food and supplies in our homes. But there are many in our community facing food insecurity.
"Community" is in the Mandell JCC's name. Our doors may be temporarily closed right now, but we all can still practice Tikun Olam (repairing the world) by helping our neighbors.
With your help, we can help those in need. Please consider donating items this week to help the food pantry stock its shelves.
As many of you are preparing for the Passover holiday and ridding your kitchens of "chametz" (foods with leavening agents that are not permitted on Passover such as pasta, cereal, cake and bread), this is a perfect way to share them with families in need.
DONATION COLLECTION
MAIN ENTRANCE MANDELL JCC
Friday, April 3 | 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
For your comfort, there will be bins for you to drop your items off without any human contact as well as volunteers wearing gloves to take the items from your car window.
ITEMS NEEDED
(please NO expired food or open packages)
| • Cold Cereal - prefer low in sugar • Pasta Sauce - most critical • Tuna or Canned meat • 1 lb package of rice • Spaghetti • Canned fruit • Applesauce |
• Peanut Butter (16-18 oz sizes if possible) • Large Sized Diapers • Baby Formula • Toothpaste • Toilet Paper • Facial Tissue • Baked Beans • Canned Pasta |
Being at home together also affords us the opportunity for teachable moments with our children.
If you have extra items in your home or if you can purchase something extra when at the grocery store to donate, you will be doing a mitzvah (good deed).
We thank you in advance for helping those in need in our backyard to survive during this temporary "new normal."
If anyone would like to volunteer on Friday to help collect the donations, please contact Jane Pasternak: jpasternak@mandelljcc.org
Stay safe and healthy!
