The Mandell JCC’s Family Room Parenting Center is a special space where parents can spend time with their young children and create new friendships with other families. The parenting center offers parent/child interactive classes, enrichment classes, holiday programing and parent workshops.

JNEXT ACTIVITY CENTER

The Family Room Parenting Center has  added the JNext Activity Center, thanks to the generosity of our JNext donors. The JNext Activity Center is filled with innovative, open-ended activities which run on imagination, promote collaboration, and inspire inquiry.  They are developmentally appropriate and encourage hands on learning through play and experimentation.

 

   

The Magnet Wall

The Magnet Wall is a unique platform for expanding open-ended creative play. The wall is a vertical play space which challenges children to think differently when experimenting and exploring slope, cause & effect, momentum and gravity.  Children arrange the rings and ramps and depending on the material of choice: balls, cars, spools, or other objects, children will learn how much slope is needed to move the material down the ramp, through a tunnel or over a bridge.
 

The Light Table

The exploration of light and shadow is fascinating to children. Light tables capture attention, discovery, inspire inquiry, and give children the opportunity to explore one of nature’s elements first hand. Experimentation with light fosters learning about color, pattern, composition, transformation and form.
 

The Library Story Driven Block Play Package

Imaginative play is a vehicle to building social skills and understanding emotions. Texturally rich play props encourage conversation, fuel imagination, invite role play, and nurtures children to explore relationships.

 

 

For everyone’s safety and enjoyment:

  • The Family Room is a NO food zone. For the safety of those with allergies and to keep the room clean, please eat snacks and beverages in the café.
  • Please put all toys and materials back in the baskets and bins and be sure the light table is turned off before you leave.

Hours: 

  • The Family Room Parenting Center is a place for you to enjoy with your children while the Mandell JCC is open. When enrichment classes are being held in the Family Room, open playtime is not available.
